new intentions

At one point last year I wrote about some of the new things that I wanted to do (reference post on 1/18/2009 entitled “a few new things”). Some of these, I accomplished. For instance writing, searching, new friends, partying and tattoos saw at least some bit of attention. Others failed miserably. I have not rollerbladed… ever, I golfed... once, and the only walking I have done has been out of necessity. But, its 2010 and this year I have a new list of things to do. Not resolutions because, well, I’m not sure I really go for that. Not to mention, I don’t really keep goals... ever. So, this is just a list of new intentions that I am pretty sold on.

2010 intentions:

Drink more alcohol. Specifically, I would like to broaden my wine list.

Get (another) tattoo.

Reconnect with a few old friends.

Be thoughtful, but not so analytical.

Bake, a lot. Find some favorites.

Have a few hard conversations that need to be had. Pick up the damn phone.

Drink more water.

Stop spending so much time wandering aimlessly around the house, and spend more time reading and writing. Participate in my life more.

Graduate college. (okay, its been almost 7 years, don’t get too excited.) Have a big party with lots of booze, barbecue and possibly a clown making balloon animals, to celebrate finally graduating.

Cook something new, like at least once or twice.

Go sky diving, again.

Take risks. In relationships, in style, in adventures, in the job hunt, in making dreams reality.

Invest in people, remember names, help others recognize value and worth. Be aware, reliable, and open.

Learn to listen better.

Create less waste, reuse more. Simple as reusable bags for everything, cloth napkins instead of paper towels, avoid products with plastic containers and unnecessary amounts of packaging, no styrofoam ever (eww), buy used clothing and house wares. These are just a few, I am open to suggestions.

Stop having self pity-parties. Embrace who I am, and where I am. Do something different if I want to create change.

Run a few races.

Stop trying to raise the dead. (not to be taken literally, I am not into voodoo.)

Attempt to be an informed member of society, and be aware of what is actually going on in our world, and United States politics. Yea, right.

Possibly, maybe learn how to do my taxes (this is a far stretch).

Be consistent in a writers group.

Allow myself to be known, and out of my comfort zone. Possibly trust a little bit more.

Continue searching to understand more of what I actually like, what I really believe, and who I truly am. Endeavor to never grow complacent.
