the skinny, the truth

We removed our clothes
Silently
Shaking off the loose fabric
Falling round ankles, your knees
Naked, unashamed
My shirt, your shorts. Rumpled in a pile on the sand
Water engulfing my bare body
Cool and calm
Exhilaration unknown before
Your legs, white under the glow of moon
Blackness held us
Without a sound
Cradled me between infinity and waters edge
Your distant body floating
Nearby, never felt, never known
With you in the depths
I float alone
Until my skin feels thin and wrinkled
Tender to touch
I crawl in the sand
Past out crumpled pile
A mess we made
Fading into night
I walk home
Towards a sun not yet in sight
Naked in the night
But held gently by moon
