I live at the base of the Monduli Mountains. In the mornings the clouds rise revealing them looming overhead, beckoning and beautiful. This weekend we started from our front door and hiked into the Mountains. Also known as hiking in the bush. It gave a whole new meaning to bush whacking. A complete lack of trails led to climbing through vegetation so thick your feet often didn’t reach the ground, but grew high overhead curving around your body and enveloping you as you pass. Every step meant pushing your weight against the branches and vines seemingly hell bent on holding you back. Traversing through impenetrable terrain meant fire ants and thistles galore. But the exploration, the company and the beautiful view from the top made it an adventure to remember.
These pictures barely do the experience justice.
