Remembering

She tries to rise above, alone.
And only realizes the depth of her need.
Pointless attempts without You.
An ant with a brick.
She stands knee deep
Mucking around in her own shit.
In every way she endeavors, vanity.
Maybe it is different for those who are stronger.
For her, she knows it cannot be done.
Lame in the wilderness.
Brown among the Crayolas.
"Above" is an odd place,
That she has not found to exist.
Not physically or objectively.
Maybe within her subjective heart, but still, where?
The desire is real, but the place she imagines- unattainable.
She is forgetful, as am I.
She sits in the silence; eyes squeezed shut,
Willing something up from within her.
Looking back there is a sparkle, a glimpse.
Oh, a memory.
One of old, when she was young.
And there, there you were,
Holding her in the cleft of the rock.
She breathes deeply, inhaling the fragrance.
And she remembers.
